It’s happening! So much is being accomplished, and all while we are hosting events at the DCC with minimal disruption!
Our new front door is in progress -- the new terrace footers are being installed! Messer is hard at work with this first step to a completely new guest arrival experience!
Escalator modernization is in progress -- Kone has begun the months-long project of modernizing our escalators at DCC!
Skywalk renovation is in progress -- the improvements have begun to refresh the Fifth Street skywalk!
VIP Suite renovation is in progress -- a brand-new VIP suite/flex space transformation has begun!

Five-Year Strategic Plan Process | |

Focusing on the future is top-of-mind for our organization. We engaged 14 community leaders and staff to join our Strategic Planning Task Force Committee to create a five-year strategic plan that identifies priorities for the convention district. During a four-month process, six key strategic initiatives were hatched that will be our focus over the next five years and beyond. The committee embraced and referred to the multi-year visioning exercise of CityWide Development Corporation and you will see familiar references in the plan, which was approved by the Board in September. These initiatives align with the MCCFA’s mission, vision, and values.

Continued work on our third-floor meeting spaces is a priority, and we are excited to present the new meeting room finishes that are in progress! | |
The VIP Suite is undergoing abatement and will receive a complete transformation that will expand the footprint to become a “flex” space with Nana Walls, which are glass partition doors that allow this space to expand the third-floor lobby or be closed for a private suite experience overlooking the exhibit hall. | |
The modernized restrooms are underway, which include adding family restrooms on each floor of the venue. All restrooms are receiving a complete transformation with new touchless fixtures and beautiful neutral wall and floor tile. The first-floor plan for restrooms includes high-level finishes in the lobby facilities which will now be accessible on both east and west sides of the lobby. | |

The Dayton Convention Center is supported in part by a 3% lodging tax on all qualified guest stays in Montgomery County. The MCCFA, owner and manager of the Dayton Convention Center, thanks the region’s hotels and motels for its partnership by collecting and submitting the lodging taxes. | |

Meet Amy Schrimpf, the newly appointed Secretary of the MCCFA Board of Directors. She also serves as the chairperson of the MCCFA Operations Committee, which is overseeing $40+ million in improvements underway at the Dayton Convention Center.
Amy is a recognized economic development leader. She serves as the Economic Development Manager for the City of Kettering and has served in a variety of local and state government public affairs and economic development positions over the past 25 years. Amy is not only focused on the City of Kettering’s success, but she is invested in the region’s economic growth. She previously worked for the Dayton Development Coalition and the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce.
Her career includes various public service roles, including two terms on the Kettering City Council from 2008 to 2017 and a term as Vice Mayor from 2012-2013. During the past 20 years, she has been involved with various organizations, including Ohio Economic Development Association, Kettering Rotary Club, Holiday at Home Board of Trustees, First Suburbs, the City of Kettering’s Board of Community Relations, and Senior Resource Connections.
Amy is a graduate of the Ohio State University and completed both the Leadership Dayton program and the Kettering Leadership Academy. She was named a “Forty Under 40” recipient in 2009 by the Dayton Business Journal and a past “Women to Watch” by the Better Business Bureau. She is married to John, and they live in a beautiful and welcoming Kettering neighborhood with their four children.

On August 1, Pam Plageman delivered a school supply donation to Crayons to Classrooms, a community leader that supplements much-needed resources for students and teachers. | |
